  1. Biased arguments like this are unfortunately largely pervasive. When given in person, I can often react to smaller versions of this rant. There are different forms of feminism in addition to liberal feminism, first of all. There are also multiple labels that serve to impact a person's social place - race, class, age, and more intersect with gender and influence it. I can defend my argument if you give me two seconds to define patriarchy, oppression, and all of the other words that you haven't taken the time to try and understand.

Unfortunately, I personally often find myself at a loss when faced with rants like these. I suppose we've conducted so many critiques on well written and logically structured articles, that we don't quite know how to demonstrate how something to obviously WRONG is illogical. At moments like these, you have to decide what route you're going to take. Will you use your full knowledge, along with years of theory and qualitative data, to rip their statement to shreds and the storm away? Or will you calmly walk them through the process of why what they said is incorrect, and how things like oppression truly work?

So far, I've only managed to look in shock at arguments like thse and mutely walk away. Here's hoping that can change soon.
